In 1958, Goldtops were phased out and a cherry sunburst became the standard finish. Sunburst finishes became all the rage with some really popular artists such as Clapton and Bloomfield using late-50s 'Bursts. The single-cutaway Les Paul guitars were discontinued in '60-'61 and were not reintroduced for several years. Many players started stripping the gold off the top of their early-mid-'50s Gibson Les Paul guitars and having them refinished to emulate the desirable Sunburst Les Pauls. The Gibson Custom Refin features a beautiful Slow Iced Tea Fade top and even has an offset center seam to emulate the originals. | Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar TV Silver $ 4832.0  Today's 1957 Les Paul Custom from Gibson Custom is presented with all the historically accurate appointments and legendary tone of the original. No detail is overlooked, including a solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body with carved mahogany top. The headstock is made from Holly head veneer, as opposed to fiber, just like it was in 1957, and the vintage-style kidney tulip tuners are mounted in a straight line, also as they were on the original. The 24 þ-inch scale length neck is made from one solid piece of mahogany, and attached to the body using a long neck tenon one of the Les Pauls more distinguishing characteristics of the 1950s. The neck is topped by a 22-fret ebony fingerboard outfitted with pearl block inlays matching the size of color of the originals.Of course, two of Gibsons legendary Burstbucker pickups deliver all the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone by using historically unmatched bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets.
